Yorkshire Airport

Watching this earlier tonight was very difficult. They played loud music almost all the way through it. OH who is very deaf could not hear any commentary, and I found it difficult too and I have no hearing problems
Why do they do it?

I've noticed this too: distracting jokey music and a sarcastic commentary. Same sort of approach as programmes like 'Parking Wars' and the like; renders them unwatchable.

Most TV sets these days have got options for changing the audio quality. Even my ultra-cheapo set from Asda offers settings for 'Standard', 'Music', 'Theater' (horrid American spelling) and 'User' (which enables me to change the treble, bass and balance levels).

You might well find that, by playing about with the audio settings, you can get your TV's sound set up better , so that background music stays in the background.

As Chris says, go to sound/audio settings in the set up menu - how you get there will depend on make/model.

most prerecorded programmes, and some live ones, have subtitles - do you have that option? I wouldn't be able to watch much TV at all without them.

I'll need the make and exact model number of your set to give you precise instructions, Caran. (The model number should be on the back of the set).

It's probably not too hard to find anyway though. On my set I press 'Menu', then press the 'Down' arrow to get to 'Audio'. I press 'OK' to accept that option. There are various options on the right, so I press the 'Right' arrow to get to 'Sound Mode', and then the 'Right' arrow again to scoll through the 4 modes. Then I pres the 'OK' button to confirm my choice and 'Menu' to exit.

Your TV won't be exactly the same but it should be equally easy to navigate.

Both the Radio Times website and the TV Guide one state that 'Yorkshire Airport' is transmitted with subtitles.
