im off to calais next week,does anyone know of a good and reasonable store where i can buy a large amount of champagne and wine?

All the Calais stores will sell you large amounts of wines and Champagnes - check Eastender's www.eastenders.fr - who have keen prices, Cheers has gone for the captive coach market and prices have gone up and choice is not so good. But if you go where Eastenders and Cheers are you'll find about 6 superstores including Majestic and Peradel all close togther so its worth visiting each to compare prices. Remember not to overload your car as they'll have you. And a very large quantity of booze may lead the customs to think you may be intending to resell. You get thebest bargains by buying slightlymore expensive wines; I mean you can buy bottles at �1 each but although cheap they're not good quaility. Whereas something like Guigal Cotes du Rhone is �7.49 in Oddbins and half that price in Eastenders. In other words, go for wines you know.
