The PM swallows his pride, sends the extension request to Brussels and it's refused (as one French minister has opined). What then?

Whether or not there is any extension / unity government or whatever if any deal that is acceptable to the EU cannot get approval in Parliament & MPs in their wisdom will not countenance a no-deal then the only alternative is to scrap Brexit & remain in the EU. Just revoke A50 and avoid any further messing about with a "People's Vote" or whatever. In that case the...

Perhaps, but the stuff you were posting about last time *was* a bunch of ludicrous conspiracy theory BS. And, what's more, you know it.
Well, the bit about you on the Eastern Front I did make up.
But the bit about 'ever closer union' I believe to be true. History would seem to bear that out.

Everything happens over a long time in the EU, Jim. That's the way it operates: "But that's only a little different to what we already have" (repeat at regular intervals until the starting point and the end point are two entirely different animals). It's done this way because they know that a single step from A to B would be totally unacceptable. But it doesn't make it any more attractive.
Democracy can never only take place in parliament. Democracy is for the people, all of them in the nation. Remove that and you have no form of democracy for the nation at all.
O_G I don't think I've ever heard that better expressed. :)
