Following on from Aunt Pollys thread about cakes, have you a trade you follow from your childhood that you must do/ have at Christmas ( like a Christmas cake )
I think mine has to be ,must have new PJs and slippers to put on after my bath on CE, then we each open a present at 12-05 am that’s been under the tree, we did that at home when I was small, do you have any ?

Sorry if there’s a Christmas category,or seasonal, I couldn’t see it

Georgiesmum, I used to buy a small present as well as the main ones and place it on the table next to my family's plates to open while eating dinner.

Lady - plain champagne or bucks fizz ? Spent Christmas at a friend's once and we started the day with bucks fizz ..
We always have Christmas tree presents to be given out in the evening.
I still have to get to Thanksgiving before I can even begin to think of the dreaded Xmas season. Maybe I'll start posting about it. Oh wait...I don't even celebrate that.
As for xmas, it's just DD and me, and we are both a bit bah humbug about it. It can all get too expensive and the day itself is just not the same when it's not a big family gathering. We just slob about.
Go to the midnight service then home for a mug of hot chocolate with marshmallows. Open one pressie each then off to bed. Must have trifle with Christmas dinner.
cold pork and pickles on christmas eve whilst watching Its a wonderful life.
Midnight Service, especially as I now always have to sing, after a drinks party at The Manor House (they are all marched up to church). We can't be the only slightly-sloshed choir singing at midnight and after. Getting a bit difficult now the youngest of us is 68 (we're a very good choir by the way, experience tells, and are working on a recording). Otherwise - having at least some member of the family to eat with us on Christmas day.
Looks like someone was on the pop early today.

A glass of Bucks Fizz and a bacon sarnie Christmas morning, love it.
I started my own tradition a few years ago when the family got so big and funds were low.
( I have 7 children plus partners, 14 grandchildren and now 6 great grandchildren)
I do crafting anyway to pass the time and keep me occupied so decided to make small things for each of them. Maybe personalised tree decorations.
Last year I used empty Crisp tubes to make Snowmen and Santas filled with sweets.
It's now something the children, big and small look forward to even trying to guess what it is this year.
I love doing it even though Christmas planning takes up most of the year, including the Cards.
Handmade cards, wish I hadn't started. They expect them now.
I fully agree with Pasta's slobbing about. It is now my Christmas Day tradition!
Not doing christmas, mum doesn't enjoy it either so she will stay with me and treat it like a lazy sunday. Much to my sister's dismay as she is the glitter and mistletoe queen.
