Mot Due Reminders

I have been pestered on and off since August by the main dealer, with reminders that my MOT is due in December! I have never been to them for my MOT and have booked with my local garage as usual. I have now started to receive phone calls from them too, and have just asked them by email, to change my contact preferences as I'm finding this excessive and I no longer wish to be contacted about my MOT.

However they say that its a legal requirement to remind me of my MOT being due and that I need to be aware that if I opt out I will be deleted from their database and will no longer receive recall notices.

Do we think that's true?

Scam. I signed up to this site a while ago and I find it very useful https://www.gov.uk/mot-reminder
Some problems with cars can be covered off by manufacturers issuing service bulletins, so dealers can carry out remedial work when a car is in for service work.

I've decided to ask them to retain me on their database for recall notifications. No emails, no phone calls, no marketing contact, just essential manufacturer recalls and by post only. See what they say.
