13 year old granddaughter has to be in Gloucester at midnight tonight.
The school are going to Lille in France for the Christmas markets.
Hope they manage to sleep on the journey or they will be shattered tomorrow.
We never had trips like this when I was at school.
I’m lucky because I know what trips are coming up so I’m prepared, but unlucky because I have two kids in one year (which himself thinks is a saving because they got joint birthday parties :( )
we did, we went to Switzerland on the train, incredibly uncomfortable, but the excitement of knowing we were all going skiing made for an adventure, we were all just over 14 years of age and i am talking back in the 60's
I went to Switzerland on a school trip when I was about 14. It was a great experience, visiting various local towns, going to the top of Mont Blanc and playing snowballs. I wouldn't have any of those experiences without the school. One slight unpleasantness was a rough ferry crossing but my friend and I weren't ill, bonus
We had a day trip to France and that was around 50 years ago. The point was to practice speaking french and we were encouraged to shop and taken on a tour of local caves where the guide spoke only french.
