Hi there I went to see GP yesterday I did not find her very sympathetic. She said as I have arthritis it is bound to flair up and it is going to be painful. She says it is more than likely I will need a knee replacement but orthopedic surgeon in my local NHS won't even see me until my BMI is a lot lower. 38 at the moment. She said I can use a knee support but she says to keep the cocodamol to a minimum as she is not happy with it. But she confirmed I couldn't take antiinflammatories due to being on a blood thinners risk of major bleed. I told her it was worse at night and she said it will be noticable more because I've got nothing to think about then I couldn't help but laugh my mind is very active at night !! She said knee pain can affect the whole leg eg ankle. I am going to pay to see a private physio next week waiting list for physio is 6 months. I know the only forward is to lose weight I won't get surgery unless I do. I can understand it but a bit hard what do others think ?
I know what that sort of pain is like Geordie but I'm afraid your GP is right - both about the weight and not taking anti inflammatories. Do you find any of the gels that you rub in a help or the heat pads that you can buy?
