What is the strongest a doctor will prescribe?? And I clearly can’t buy stronger than co codamol. I’m really struggling - I don’t understand why the pain has suddenly escalated to this level but I can’t cope with it for many more hours.

PS: I called 111 a few months ago when I was worried about the amount of bleeding from my catheter. (It was a Friday evening and I didn't want to wait to see my regular GP).

It was a little frustrating having to answer the same triage questions several times over on the phone but they eventually got me booked in with the out-of-hours GP service. In my area that operates from the Ipswch Hospital site, where I'm sure there will have been massive queues on a Friday evening in A&E. However I simply walked into the out-of-hours GP clinic and told them I'd been referred through 111. I was in the doctor's surgery about 5 minutes later.
it could be that will happen Chris...
let us know how you get on smow..
My vote is for tramadol, too
Chris, what was the drug the doctor gave you? Fentanyl by any chance ?
Oops didn’t answer the op. Ring 111.
no answer from smow, so perhaps she has gone to the hospital as suggested.
diamorphine, ketamine, oxycdone and so on. they probably wont though!

Sorry guys, iPad died. Managed to get to see an emergency doctor in the end. They said the latest dressing the hospital had put under the splint was too tight in their opinion and so they loosened it, plus gave me tramadol. Still in a lot of pain but not quite on that level. Thankyou for all the suggestions. Note to self- stop being so accident prone!!
Be aware that Tramadol can make you feel very ill, I almost fainted when out shopping, and I had only taken 1 tablet. Even my doctor said that they are "really nasty stuff". I had a root infection in my mouth some while ago and bought Paramol over the counter, which was the only thing which worked for me.
// Go to the nearest outpatients smow. Now.//
I agree with that
if they say why arent you at a GP ?
say that he refused to see you
Smow, be careful with Tramadol. Some times they can make you feel a bit disoriented some time after you have taken them.
