i worked full time up to last year because i had a baby. (been in same job for 3 1/2 yrs). i now work just 4 hrs in the afternoon. im now 4 mnths pregnant again. iv had 1appointment in the afternoon, i have another 2 appointments in the next 2 weeks, one is a dating scan and consultant in the afternoons
when i told my boss he gave me a hard time, asking why i cant have morning ones, which iv tried and no luck. i cant cancel them.
where do i stand????

your boss HAS to give you time off to attend ante-natal appointments.
I don't think he has to pay you, but can't object to you going to them.

Do pregnant women get time off to attend antenatal classes?

All pregnant employees are entitled to time off with pay to keep appointments for antenatal care made on the advice of a registered medical practitioner, midwife or health visitor. Antenatal care may include relaxation classes and parent-craft classes. Except for the first appointment, the employee must show the employer, if requested, a certificate from a registered medical practitioner, midwife or health visitor, confirming the pregnancy together with an appointment card or some other document showing that an appointment has been made.



looks like you won't lose any pay then either!
And this is why small businesses are far more reluctant to employ women of child bearing age.
