fluorescent light bulb change

hi - i've tried to change a strip light, bought a new bulb and starter switch - but i can't seem to get it to work. any tips for fitting? i'm trying to do it on my own, too. THanks

Do you mean you are just trying to change the flourescent bulb? If so, there are 2 ways the 'bulbs' come out. Either twist the whole bulb 90 degrees (this aligns a slot in the bulb holder so that the bulb will just 'drop' out), or the bulb holders need to be 'bent' back a little to release the bulb pins. In this case, there are usually two little track marks on the inside of the bulb holder for the pins to slide along, but you won't see them until you have bent the bulb holders back a bit, so be careful!! To be on the safe side, flip the trip in the fuse box to isolate the lighting ring main before you start..
Forgot to say, if you need to change the starter as well, they just twist to unlock, sort of like a normal bayonet light bulb.

Thanks - it's the little track-things i'm having the problems with. i'll try to align them, they've not allowed the metal pins in the bulb to sit well. think that may be where the problem is. thanks again
