Is The Belief In The Tories Substainable?
32 Answers
Do you think that there will continue to be a huge amount of people voting Tory? Won't some constituencies drop out when things like unemployment or crime aren't altered?

Brexit can be over in 2020 and then what?
If people really think the Tories are on the side of working class people they are greatly mistaken. The interests of free market capitalism and the big corporations will always take priority.

I’ve voted Tory all my life. I’ve done so not because I particularly like everything they do. Some things I agree with others I don’t. I’ve done so because there has never been a suitable alternative that comes close to my requirements of a government. The latest incarnation of the Labour Party is without doubt far and away the worst I have ever seen. What puzzles me is that some 10m people voted for a Labour candidate earlier this month. Many of them – particularly the Islington set and those of similar ilk – say they did so because they feared for the future of the country if we left the EU. But they were prepared to elect a bunch of dangerous, idealistic lunatics who, as even on the most cursory glances at their manifesto would have demonstrated, would have run this country into the ground. With such economic lunacy it is likely we would have been thrown out of the EU anyway. Brexit would have been a walk compared to what would have happened had Messrs McDonnel and Corbyn and their band of assorted Marxists, Trotskyists and Stalinists had been allowed anywhere near power.

Since when did that come into the equation?//
Since Asians have a higher birth rate that the native population and vote ostensibly Labour, with the exception of the Indian population who vote more Tory. Also considering the Black vote which is also significantly Labour.
It is just a case of mathematical inevitability that Tory vote will minimise assuming that native population fails to replicate itself over time.
This is especially true when the left and media portray the Tory party as the party of 'Xenophobia', allowing Minority groups to postulate as victims of the system.

They were voted in as the only democratic party in a position to gain a majority and deliver on the referendum. Once that is done whether they remain in will depend on whether the opposition achieves a miracle and looks a valid choice for government. Their inability to do so goes back further than Brexit and referenda, so loss of trust may mean it'll take longer than a decade to regain that trust. The country needs a decent left wing alternative though, both as opposition and potential government alternative to the Tories.
It all depends on how well they do, of course. There is a long time to go. Others have explained how the need to deliver Brexit, the antipathy to Corbyn etc. resulted in the current government. I am picking-up vibes that there has been a sea-change in the Tory party - we'll see if it transpires. If so, then deep-seated loyalties (already shaken) could change. All to play for - and watch with interest. :)
