I am going to be making a victoria sponge at the end of the week for the first time.

I have a double oven - top oven is fan assisted - where should I put the cake - like on the very bottom (of top oven) or higher up on a grille.

Don't want to waste the ingredients. Thanks for any answers.

Mamya beat me to it...:)
Are you sure that your top oven is fan-assisted as normally only the bottom oven has the fan-assist?

oh yes Diddly do - very fan assisted - it would nearly blow me out of the kitchen LOL.

thanks Mamy - will use those temperatures.
Diddly - I have a range style cooker. Both ovens and the grill are fan assisted.
And JJ...put it anywhere in a fan oven. It circulates the heat.

Well sponge was a great success - oven temperatures were spot on.

However I used No Mercy (I can't remember her new user name) recipe for the sponge. Absolutely lovely.

I have some left and will freeze as per Mary Berry.
