I'm on the lookout for a new electric kettle, most importantly it needs to have a handle well away from any possible escaping steam that could burn the hand whilst pouring.
Title confused me. I was thinking, don't all kettles turn water to steam ? And what's a burn kettle, and why would one want one ? (Not a lot of call for burnt water.)
I work with disabled and could never understand why they would make a kettle with a handle on the top as you burn your hand every time you pour. I've got a Tesco one for about a fiver with a handle on the side.
My kettle is a side handled one but I still manage burn myself with the steam when I pour.
Conversely, the whistling one on the wood burning stove is a top handled type but no steam burns from that so far.
I think it has a lot to do with individual designs, a handle that is well away from the body of the kettle is less likely to burn the hand.
