Good morning Mexican. The purpose of the 24 hour monitor is to see how your bp is throughout the whole day and, just as importantly, to give the most realistic readings at home rather than a one-off in the surgery or hospital.
I expect the tightening of the band will disturb your sleep a little but that should not bother you too much. Just bear in mind the picture and you will do fine. Hope you get a positive result.
Yes. It most probably will especially if you are a light sleeper. I have had one fitted three different times and the wife once. Neither of us slept well.
You should not fret over discomfort or lost sleep. This type of monitoring is far more accurate and gives the doctor a better chance of understanding your bp. What is just one day compared to the rest of your life? The "rest of your life" could be increased significantly if any problems are detected and treated accordingly :)
You are welcome, Mexican. I prefer that type of monitor to a 72 hour ecg one. In spite of the super hypoallergenic sticky pads I had a very bad skin reaction and it looked like I had spent the time with a large octopus ;)
ummmm, 50% more accurate, according to NHS, because the length of monitoring is supposedly negating white-coat-hpertension.
Choux...it's just that the blood pressure machines at the hospital and the GP's both really struggle to get an accurate reading from me. According to them I should be dead.
