I agree that this attack will be seen as Iran’s violent response and each side will see it as this.
So, I think things will calm down a bit now. Other revenge attacks will probably be the usual deniable proxy attacks. It would be interesting to see if the death of Suleimani has a long term beneficial effect.
Well at least we won't have to put up with him on those damned cookery programmes anymore.

No Danny but I'm sure there must be more diplomatic ways to deal with a situation like this than throwing his toys out of the pram and stamping his feet.
Whether it calms down or leads to a reprisal may well depend on the casualty figure. Although we know some like to get the last word anyway, especially in the early days when national pride is at stake.
There are no diplomatic ways with this lot.

To blame all this on Mr Trump is very naive. Guess if you are a Trump hater that doesnt matter to you, any dig is a good dig eh?
you cannot reason with Islamic wackjobs, they only understand one thing and fortunately Mr Trump will have no qualms about supplying it.
They aren’t “wackjobs” tho. We might not agree with them but they have a plan and they stick to it.
Trump does have to take a lot of responsibility for provoking this crisis - tearing up the old agreement Obama signed. It’s almost as if he is motivated solely in everything he does by wanting to do the opposite of what his predecessor does. Tactically knee jerk, but strategically - who knows. Probably not him.
Meanwhile Iran’s strategic aims proceed nicely as they see the Iraqi government under pressure now to expel western forces and a nice excuse to abandon the nuclear treaty properly.
In all honesty, in military terms the ‘response’ was utterly pathetic, a dozen or so rockets(a few unexploded) with all the accuracy of throwing a handful of rice at a bulls arris from 10 feet.
The Pentagon must have a river of urine running through it at the moment.....
I do not blame everything on Trump but I think his understanding of diplomacy and understanding of anyone other than himself (and that's rather moot) is zero.
