Lovely morning here after a frozen start. The wind and rain has stopped but the going will be heavy I should think. Our racing is a bit like the "curates egg" today. Good in parts. Some quality races but again small fields that do not suit the penny punter which means casting a widfe net to find a bit of value. Done the ITV7 as per with very small 6 & 7 timers and my usual 4 horse punt.

Pic D'Orhy @9/2 2.25 Ascot
Flying Angel @16/1 2.40 Haydock
Happy Diva @13/2 3.00 Ascot
Silva Eclipse @8/1 4.15 Haydock

£1.00 E/W Acca. 30p E/W Doubles & Trebles. Singles to be taken on them as they go to post.

ITV7 The top 3 with....Papagana 1.50 Ascot, Butterwick Brook 2.15 Taunton, Pentland Hills 3.15 Haydock & the evergreen Un De Sceaux going for his 4th win in the Clarence House @3.35 Ascot. Good Luck if you are having a flutter. Now back to the cricket....

Good luck, Togo. Looks like one of those days when the bookies will be crying all the way home. So many small fields with odds-on jollies widely expected to romp home. Obviously swerved those races:-)

2.25 Asc; Ballymoy @ 6/1
2.40 Hay; Acting Lass @ 6/1
3.00 Asc; Sam's Adventure @ 11/2
3.45 Hay; Billingsley @ 7/2

Win singles, 20p Lucky 15, £1 e.w. acca. 4 placed = £17, 4 winners = £1,978.

ITV 7; The 3 involved above, plus; Magic Of Light, Shang Tang, Ballyandy & Defi Du Seuil. £1 e.w. acca.

Best of luck to all punters.
Will have a go again Ken. Didn't do to well last week, but if you're not in you can't win it, as the saying goes.
Last runner saves the day and provides the smallest of profits - £4.10 :-)
hope 16.15 comes in to recover some losses lol

No returns here Ken. Had the winner at Taunton and a couple of places. Kicking myself for passing over Vintage Clouds. I think that is the first time ever that I have done so. Ahh well said the soul.
Ken at least last horse came in so got some of my stake back.

Blow me. Just had a look and see that Silva Eclipse popped in. I have been watching the cricket and catching up on the footie results after watching the 3.35 Ascot race. Went to my account to log out and wondered what the little bit more than I expected was. The little bit back takes away the sting.
At ,least we all have a slight smile on our faces, then. Though almost 2 hours studying for £4.10 works out at only £2.05 per hour. Talk about slave labour:-///
lol ken you wouldn't do it if you didn't enjoy it?
Question Author
That is exactly it....we wouldn't do it if we didn't enjoy it. The reading up, stats, comparing form and personalities, then when we are ready making a choice that is ours alone. Mostly the exercise reminds us that we are no where near as clever as we think we are but now and again gives us hope that we do have a little insight. Hope you have a pleasant evening.......just going to have a little dry sherry and get a lasagne in the oven.
Togo no better than close your eyes and use a pin then? lol
Question Author
Haha I suppose not. But at least we don't stick a pin in our finger and finish up unresponsive to life like Sleeping Beauty. I'm sure that most punters actually enjoy the choosing as much as the racing to be honest.
Togo I'll have a punt most Saturdays, I can afford to lose. Hate the gaming machines that are installed now though, not that I use them but see people putting £ after £ in them & punters being provided with free tea and coffee.
Question Author
I mentioned a week or so back that I have stopped using the high street offices and do all my flutters online. One of the deciding factors was the constant racket from the gaming machines and the obvious encouragement of the bookies to attract the people who wanted to play on them. The bookies used to be somewhere that you could have a chat with a stranger or meet the regulars and exchange info. It all changed in the 90s. Gradually admittedly, but before I knew it the bookies became a place to swerve. I resisted, even swore I never would, start betting online. Then I was taken ill and unable to get out so opened an account so that I could have a punt. Bear in mind I could have done so many years previously because I am fortunate enough to be teched up. I do not now miss the bookies. I certainly do no miss having to get there before the off.
