I hope you have all registered the Chancellor's words on alignment. He does not seem to understand that although Japan is not in EU their products have to meet EU rules to be admitted.
Poor wee Britain will be standing alone against USA, Europe, China, India and the rest with no trade agreements. Non alignment with the rules for goods will mean no EU trade for those goods. Other trade deals will take years.
The outcome will be the UK will be crushed. You were warned.
jackthehat: "Instead of sitting arms folded and grumbling and relishing the opportunity to "I-told-you-so", why not roll up your sleeves and make a positive contribution to this historic breakaway succeeding? " - sadly I fear that many of the remainers will actively work towards the negative just so they can have that "I told you so" moment. The Civil service is full of them. From now on any set back no matter how slight will be blamed on the fact that we are not in the EUSSR.
The Civil Service is not filled with "I told you so" Remainers, but in any case the mistake TTT is really making is thinking that the dogma is so one-sided. Those who have made their minds up, on both sides, will be unable to resist either ignoring any downsides of Brexit (Leavers), or drawing excessive attention to them (Remainers).
For a die-hard Remainer, the best outcome is to be proven spectacularly wrong. There is no joy to be gained from being even partially right.
Rich if you do look in again, not too brilliant, but life goes on, i hope you are well and that life isn't too hard for you in sometimes sunny Scotland.
