The arrogance of the Westminster dictators knows no bounds. Now with a parliamentary majority the tories feel able to do exactly as they please. The most recent statements are chilling if you are a democrat. Quote "it does not matter what the people of Scotland want" and
"it does not matter how the Scottish Parliament votes" we will ignore them and do what we want. They have the same reaction to the Northern Irish and the Welsh. They act like colonialists rather than partners in a union of equals. However the brexit train will hit the buffers when trade agreement terms are dictated and determined by the big boys - USA, EU, China and India. Little England will be exposed.

I expect their own politicians told them that to try and get the drunken parasites out of bed. It didn't work.

It is rather sad that so many can demonstrate so much ignorance and arrogance.
There are many states in the EU of same size or smaller than Scotland and they seem to be able to manage and prosper. I shall also point out that Scotland is a nation not a region; that exalted status can be proudly claimed by Yorkshire.
ahh richy richy me old china, finally you return to your post, look a bot closer to home as to why this is necessary.
// The Scottish were told it was once in a generation vote. //

The Scottish were also told that staying in the UK was the only way to ensure they remained in the EU. That didn't work out so well...

Nevertheless, I'm not sure I agree with the sentiments in the OP. It may have been expressed arrogantly, but being part of the UK means accepting that the UK Parliament, not the Scots Parliament, is the seat of Democracy for the whole United Kingdom.

In spite of the changes tonight, I hope that the Scottish recognise that the UK is still worth preserving, for our sake and theirs.
My mother was Scottish (with a dash of Irish; my father from solid Yorkshire English stock). My Scottish relatives wear kilts (yes we adhere to a rather dull, orangey tartan), my English ones don't. We're all related, we're all family, we're all British for goodness sake. My kids' father's family was Llewellyn...………….... how much more British can we get?

This is all terribly stupid, really. There is an Independence for Yorkshire political party - and we'd have more chance than Scotland to survive in the big world out there. The Scots voted to stick with the UK. It was a once in a generation vote. A generation is not a few years. Scotland's best chance (and please believe me when I say that half of me feels Scottish and loves my other half) is to stick together. Heck, Billy Connolly is a sort of cousin of mine (not sure of the relationship, but Mum took him for walks in the park when he was tiny).

It comes down to - we are a United Kingdom, we voted as a United Kingdom, the result is to Leave. Please put this to bed now and stand together - as we have for hundreds of years.
Could somebody pass the salad tongs to Spicerack please, the greens need tossing and we have an expert on hand.
That’s all very cosy jourdain. Most of Scotland
Oh, didn’t complete my post....... jourdain, that’s all very cosy. Half of Scotland is related to BC .

Were they? Who told them that?

I can't understand why some find it so difficult to separate an independence vote from the SNP. Many who would like independence do not support the SNP.
The SNP are a joke.

In 2014 they would have been celebrating leaving both the UK and the EU if they got the desired result.

2016 'awww but we didn't vote to leave the EU'
// The Scottish were told it was once in a generation vote. //

As ludicrous and unjustified a claim as those objecting to 'taking orders' from the EU.
When were the Scottish Public mandated( consulted ?? ha ha!) it would be a ' once in a generation vote' ?

As stupid as the UK police swearing fealty to 'the Crown' rather than 'the People'.
It is only the oath for police in England and Wales that mentions the Monarch.
