Irritability
29 Answers
I've always preferred my own company, but recently I have noticed how much more, I dislike being around crowds, for example in shops, public places etc If any one gets to close to me I need to move away, and find my own space, also noise has started to make me very irritable, and I seem to have a lot less patience with things around me, not sure it's worth wasting the doctors time, so just seeing if anyone has or had anything similar.

You have to be exposed to these situations more regularly in order to build your tolerance levels..only if that is what you want to do. If most of your life is spent in peace and tranquility you will then struggle to deal with what would seem like chaos but is just normal hustle and bustle.
I must admit that as much as I hate crowds and avoid them I still love loud music, but in my own space, preferably in my own home. No way would I go to parties any more. Crowds annoy me. Noisy people annoy me. Shopping sprees would be a nightmare. I was quite a wild thing once! I couldn't now live in a town, let alone a city.
Underlying it is probably stress I am very much the same, again it gets worse as I get older. Places I used to go too seem too much effort now and I prefer to shop very early when it's quieter. If I had a pound for every time I've walked out of shops leaving a trolley or basket in the aisles because the noise and other people's children were freaking me out, I would be able to go on a cruise. Noisy shops generally are an issue and although Dave and I went to the cinema pretty much every week I couldn't do it now... I had a panic attack the last time I went out of my comfort zone. I miss concerts too.
