I’ve been told you have difficulty in swallowing for about 6 weeks and I have a phobia of choking and I have anxiety attacks sometimes when eating that I can’t swallow and I’m going to choke. I’m stressing and just need a bit of reassurance from people who have had it done. I understand it involves part of the stomach being wrapped round the oesophagus.

Such procedures are performed regularly where I work and depending on the skill of the surgeon generally takes 75-90 minutes, is fairly straightforward and recurrence is pretty rare, in my experiences.
In fact, I can’t recall any patient having the need to return in the last 15 years.
Hope that is of assistance to you.
