Child support query

I'm under a court order to pay child support for my son until he is 17 or ceases full time education. He is currently 18 and at uni. He plans to take a year out for work experience before going back for his final year.
My question is am I legally responsible to continue paying support (to his mother) during his year out on work experience when obviously he will be earning money himelf and by doing so does that constitute 'ceasing full time education'. If so I could then give him money for support in his final year directly.
I asked at the family court and they have had the question asked many times but were not in a position to comment.

Something you may need to check (this was certainly the case back when I was paying child support). If you are not legally obliged to pay the money but choose to anyway, you can't claim tax relief on it!

Thanks folks for your prompt and helpful comments (apart from the first response which I found somewhat upsetting). I have an amicable relationship with my ex and and am very supportive toward my son. I am quite aware of, and take seriously, my parenting responsibilities and like to think I am more than generous with the arrangements that are in place. My query here was simply what my 'legal' obligations are rather than my moral ones.
