why in Everyman 3125 - note the unusual force (6) can only seem to be "teeth" - note = te, unusual being anag. of the - leaving me with teeth as the definition of "force" - don't get it!!

I puzzled over this one but it is in Chambers.

Teeth.... A combination of cog and wheel , force sufficient power to be effective.

thanks Kayakamina - yet again you have made things clear!! - out of interest you obviously do much crosswording - i love Everyman but is it a "pukka" crossword because it often contains "puns" as much as anything?? it would seem to be easier than other papers - any thoughts?? snichs
I agree that the Everyman is easy- as I believe is the intention. A puzzle for 'Everyman'
If you are finding it straightforward then you may think about moving on to the more demanding ones. K

I am doing fairly well with the Guardian (some days!!) and also the Telegraph just need a completed Everyman now and then for my ego, I guess. I'd better stop using this as a forum now otherwise AB Editor will be after me! Thanks again for your help.
