I feel inadequate. I do not have a wall to wall bookshelf filled with books.

If the average is 5 books per household then I've got a lot of other peoples books and I'm keeping them. So there.
I have been in houses where there aren't any books and this before kindle, etc. No newspapers and no books. Someone boasted to me that they had never read a book as it wasn't necessary. Their loss.

I had a millionaire friend, now sadly deceased. On the first visit to his house he showed me around and entering one room he said it was the library. Expecting to see wall to wall bookshelves, I was puzzled not to see books until I eventually spotted a small rack on the desk which held exactly six books.
Oooh so many fans of Sir Pterry here!
Cloverjo, he's not for everyone, but I'd recommend Mort or Guards! Guards! If you're ever inclined towards some Rincewind-free Discworld. Alternatively, if you want some giggles from another source, Robert Rankin is wonderfully ridiculous, Jasper Fforde's Thursday Next books are great and dear old Douglas Adams also gets dusted down if I'm feeling blue and need cheering up.
