(The are some guideline prices, from 2018, on this page: https:/ /www.no ttingha mpost.c om/news /proper ty/mapp erley-p ark-you re-buyi ng-hous e-17280 8 )
I agree though that many people (in all walks of life, including professional footballers, so-called 'celebrities' and even successful business people, who ought to know a thing or two about budgeting) tend to match their lifestyles closely to their incomes, with fixed monthly outgoings (such as mortgages) and who then come a cropper when there's a sudden drop in those incomes because they've spent everything they've earned as it came in and saved nothing at all.

I'm sure that it varies a great deal across sex workers, Johnny.
When I worked at a railway station we were very close to the town's rd light district, with several street workers travelling in by train to seek clients. Some were clearly struggling for money, having to spent just about everything they earned to support their drug habits. I very much doubt that any of those women registered their employment and paid tax on it.
Equally though, we had a lovely lady customer who ran an escort agency. She was always perfectly groomed (and clearly an excellent mother to her toddler daughter), as were all the women whom I met that worked for her business. I've no doubts at all that she would have registered her business with HMRC and ensured that all of her staff's tax affairs were fully in order. (Most of them probably wouldn't have got out of a bed [or, rather, into it] for a mere two grand a week though - and that was 15 years ago. Those women were clearly earning many, many times what the street girls were getting).

Earn £104,000 in 2020/2021 and you'll take home £68,164. This means £5,680 in your pocket a month.
Over the year you'll pay £29,896 income tax and £5,940 in National Insurance. Less Pension contributions. Most people could struggle by on that.
