Dragging it home was hard work but I was sure that mum would let me keep it. Mum wasn't impressed and I had to release my new friend. He ran home.

Correction - I have just watched the video clip - and clearly the child did know the bear was there.
He did exactly the right thing - don't make a provocative gesture such as facing the bear or staring it out.
The bear was not threatened, so not threatening, but it must have been really scary for the parents, bears can really motor when the start to run!

Having spent a lot of time living in bear country one of the first things we learnt was to always be making a noise. Singing was suggested but after listening to me our friends decided that being chased by a bear was preferable though they did give me a bell to jangle.
If we were to spend any time in the mountains deodorants and toothpaste were banned. Baking soda became my friend... :-)
