Having seen the shooting dead of a black man who ran away from an American Cop who was trying to arrest him for drink driving, (not the most heinous crime in the world), why is the first thought of an American cop faced with an escapee, is to shoot him dead?

I think our policemen should offer their services to the whole of America’s police force.

I was browsing FB and watched a heartwarming post about how a dog clutched his owner after being stolen while he was in his owner’s car, in America.

As it was coming to the end I read, “the police found the car.” I jokingly said to myself, “and then they shot him.”

And They Had Done!!

"Having seen the shooting dead of a black man who ran away from an American Cop who was trying to arrest him for drink driving, " - you missed the bit about stealing the officers tazer and attempting to use it on him.

I too thought exactly that when the attorney for his family opened with:
He presented no significant threat!

You mean apart from a criminal attempt to escape capture and several attempts to wrest firearms(eventually resulting in the theft of the taser) from the officers?
Regardless of his colour, this man made more than a significant contribution to his own demise as a result of his actions, it had NOTHING to do with the colour of his skin.
