Mine was weird. The house was part of a stately home called Alexander Hall. It was divided up into 8 houses I think. We had a walkin kitchen, a living room off that and a front parlour that was fully furnished with settee and tables etc but never used.
The living room was long and narrow, with a a fire at one end. The only place to put the tv was at the opposite end of the room which meant mum whose chair was facing the fire used to have to kneel up on her chair and epwatch tv at the back of the room. There was also a cupboard under the stairs in this room that the coal man used to come in and empty there coal sacks into. The dust in the room was unbelievable.

Sure. We still own it.
Yes remember it well. Three bedroom terrace on two floors, back yard and outside toilet.
Lived there until I married at 21.
A great community spirit in that street, but a tough area.
Yes
A back to back a bit like Coronation Street , two down and two up , held wonderful memories of happy Christmas’s and long hot summers ,then we moved to a Council house with a big garden and the good times continued
As I reported on here a few months back, I revisited my childhood home to decorate it for the guy who had just bought it with a view to renting it out. The only interior change (structurally) was a lean-to kitchen extension. Other than that, everything was as it was back in the day and, at various times throughout the 10 days or so, I swear I heard echoes of conversations from way back when. Nostalgia doesn't even begin to describe how i felt each day I set foot over the threshold. Rather than going to work, it was more like going home.
My mum still lives in mine. 1930s semi. When I was about 7 or 8 they started building the M62 right outside (well, about 75yds away and in what would be a 60ft cutting. It was a fantastic playground.
We lived with my Grandparents until I was a toddler in a little terraced house with a toilet up the back yard. We must have been terribly cramped, especially when my sibling came along, but I remember very little about it. My Grandma carried on living there till her 80's and that little house was always special to me because of that. It's changed beyond recognition now, fully modernised, but it always gives me goosebumps if I ever walk past it - memories eh? Some can make you, some can break you.
Yes I remember most of them but we moved around a lot as they were on RAF bases.
I was born at home in a one bedroom bungalow. Dad converted the loft into a bedroom when baby number three arrived! I remember Dad making me a dolls house that was an exact scale replica of our house. We moved to a bigger house when I was 6 but the dolls house went missing in the move. ( I always thought the removal men took it, because nothing else was missing).
When Grandpa came to visit us from Scotland he always took us for a day out at BelleVue.
I grew up in the suburbs about 35 miles east of NYC...it was a small village, and our house was on the first post war estate. It was a teeny, tiny ranch...bungalow to you. I was about 2 when we moved. My sister and I shared a bedroom. I remember mum decorating it for me after sis got married...pretty floral wall paper and curtains. We had an L shaped living/dining room with a fireplace that got used whenever there was s hurricane.
Went by the house on a visit about 15 years ago...it had expanded 3x, bore no resemblance to my childhood home. I'd left when I was about 21.
