The risk of contracting Covid-19 aapears to be far lower outdoors than it is indoors. (A Chinese study, based on contact tracing, found that out of 5000 people with the disease, only one person had caught it outdoors).
For some unexplained reason, it always seems to be the same beaches that attract thousands of inconsiderate litter louts. (Any editor of a national newspaper, looking for a story about littering and other anti-social behaviour on beaches, knows that getting photos from Durdle Door, Bournemouth and Brighton will almost certainly allow him to fill some space on the front page of his journal). Other popular beaches don't seem to have the same problems. Despite theoretically 'shielding', I was at Clacton's Martello Breach yesterday, which was certainly busy. However everyone appeared to be courteously social distancing guidelines and I saw many people either taking their litter back to their cars or walking some distance along the promenade to dispose of it; I didn't see a single person leaving any litter on the beach at all.
