retrocop - // From my dealings with the general public I believe too much trust is put in the 'common sense' of some of joe public. Boris has more faith than I do that alcohol and the need for social mixing is a good cocktail at this early stage. //
I must agree - although my dealings with the inebriated public has come from gigs, and work in nightclubs and on disco parties, but assuming a level of common sense when alcohol is involved is a dodgy position to take.
There will be a lot of giddy nonsense, and the A & E's will be full - again.
Maybe someone will actually analyse the connection between overstretched A & E's and the timings of excess alcohol consumption.
And having analysed it, and realised that alcohol is firmly embedded in our cultural fabric, and addressing curbs is political suicide, they will quietly forget all about it again.
