For many weeks now all supermarkets and M&S had someone on the self service tills ( just) cleaning the machines after each customer, also at the garage pumps. They've all gone, Why?

They've taken them away...same as will happen to you if you keep obsessing.

♫ They're coming teacake you away ha-haaa ♫
Waitrose still doing it...and all the trolley handles get done before you can have one.

I'm not obsessing, I couldn't be any safer, you could say I'm being observant though, especially that they seem to be putting the blame on young people for the present increase in cases.

Oh. forgot to add, many months ago I did say that the supermarket is the one place that nearly everyone has to go, and the fuel pump. I also stated very early on, before it really hit the UK, that supermarkets should have started hand jell at the door, people on here just mocked my idea.
>"they seem to be putting the blame on young people for the present increase in cases"
That's your intrepetation and one the BBC seemed to share today when the radio presenter asked some young people how they felt about being blamed for the increase.
But all that's happening is the government and scientific advisers are concerned that the vast majority of infections are now occurring in the 20-30 age group (approx) and that there must be a risk they will pass it on. They are not blaming- they are informing. There would be criticism if they knew that there a huge spike in this age group but kept the info secret.
It reminds of when someone said a while ago the BAME community was being blamed when in reality they were just being warned of the increased risk and higher risks in multi generational homes.

But yes, back to the OP, I noticed at a store yesterday that there was no longer free sanitiser or disinfectant for trolleys- but by the doors they were selling 80% alcohol hand gel

ff I read your post with interest, but may I ask you to read mine? It was not my intrepetation , I sad (they seem to think)

^I said^
ff, what Hancock said was "It’s among more affluent younger people where we have seen the rise [in Covid infections]", so teacake's interpretation seems pretty accurate, unless you think the infection was actually being spread by someone else to blameless youth.
Okay apologies if I misunderstood but I assumed by "they" you meant the government "seem to be putting the blame on young people", So who did you mean by "they"?
I'll leave you to it jno. You seem to be misunderstanding my posts regularly today. You disagree with me but then say the same thing in effect

ff, what you said was

///"they seem to be putting the blame on young people for the present increase in cases"
That's your intrepetation///

I was suggesting teacake was factually accurate, and not offering an interpretation at all.
I’ve been to M & S a few times over the last few months and I have always used the self service tills but have never seen anyone cleaning them.
jno- but who is putting (seeming to put ) the blame on young people? Blame is an emotive word. I am not aware that the government has said they "blame young people". If they have said it I think it's an unwise, negative and counterproductive choice of words but I don't think they have used the word 'blame' directly. Unless they have said it explicitly then it is factually inaccurate and is just Teacake's interpretation and an interpretation/spin put onto this by those who like to portray 'victims' and create conflict to destabilise/score points off the elected government and science professionals. Teacake seems to agree that he meant "the government"judging by his 10/10 comment
