what to do with a marrow?

my father in-law has grown a marrow this year but is unsure what to do with it. when does he pick it and whats the best recipe for it? thanks!

missed your recipe the other day, shaney so will print off that as well. Funny, but having cut/paste this one, didn't realise that nickmo had posted the recipe on courgettes that I queried (Cyprus), until now! Must remember to thank him...

Cut it into squares of about an inch, then steam it and serve it with butter, salt and pepper. Unbelivably delicious!
