Download something like CutePDF.
I downloaded 'cutePDFwriter'.
Then all I have to do is pick 'cutePDFwriter' from the list of printers, when I hit 'print', and voila............a PDF.

So simple even *I* can use it !
Download Cute PDf there is a free version

Thanks squarebear and jackthehat. Will give it a try.
If you have Word 2007, Microsoft have created their own free plugin.

The MS plugin is far superior to CutePdf.

However it is worth having Cute too because it works in all programs.
I would recommend Doxillion Document Converter. It's really easy to use and it's free.

You can get it here:

:)
There used to be a printer driver utility just for that use ... Can't remember it's name tho : (
We used to use it on the Ford LAN for all staff to use.
PDFCreator also lets you print to PDF format.
MS word and PDF are widely used for storage of formatted information. While MS word allows the user to write, edit and delete information, PDF files are locked for editing. To present the word files in more efficient way, one should choose a file converter program. The kernel for Word to PDF is very fast in converting word files to Portable documents. The utility saves all data like OLE objects, images, tables, hyperlinks, texts and formulas from the word documents and save it in portable documents of Adobe acrobat.
