Dooley Wilson of Casablanca film fame couldn't play the piano, he was a drummer.
That must be Pulp Fiction ho ho!!
I've just had a fistful of leaflets shoved through the letterbox.
One of the leaflets - "Leaflet distributors required in this area".
Eh?
That's a lot of pumpkins.

This is a lot of pumpkin - https://tinyurl.com/y2krdenl
I recommend surgery for that...
i must live a sheltered life, no one in my circle of friends has ever bought or eaten a pumpkin

tried squash one, horrible..
once, and squash the stuff you eat.....
I always made a spicy pumpkin soup with the scooped flesh. Yummy.
We carve small pumpkins every year and roast the seeds with salt, oil and curry powder. Roast pumpkin is delicious as is pumpkin in soups. We can buy it here already cubed. I also use it in the pasta sauce I make
Hell mend them for going all American. We never had pumpkins in Scotland, always the good old neep (turnip). Mum made soup with the scooped out flesh - nothing went to waste in our house. PS we never had "trick or treat" either, good old guising was good enough for us with home made outfits - your dad's bunnet and auld coat tied roond the middle wi' rope!
Squirrels go mad for them. You can use them to fatten your local squirrels up ready for the casserole.
If your putting them out for the squirrel, don’t leave them on the ground - they’re bad for hedgehogs.
Quite right sherr. It gives the little darlings a squirty bum.
i think barry will be putting the urchins in the pot with the squirrels
define "go to waste" Do we say that cut flowers go to waste because we dispose of them? My experience is that carving or decorative pumpkins are not great for cooking. they tend to be stringier and have less flavour than the kind grown for eating.....especially the giant ones. I have tried making soup with them but it was a bit of a waste of time so now if I have one for decoration I think of it as cut flowers...which is actually how they are grown too. I save my culinary efforts for the smaller cooking pumpkins. I do agree though that if you can be bothered, the roasted seeds are tasty. Soak them in brine first for a great crispy tasty result.
