I am generally one of life's happy people, but this morning i woke up with an impending sense of doom lurking about in the pit of my stomach. I know this sounds really daft but i genuinely cant shake this feeling off today. I feel like my life is about to turn up-side down, things are going to start to go wrong, and ive got no control over it. Ive never felt like this before and was wondering if any one else had ever experienced anything like this, and if so what do i do? Please tell me im not mad.

You are not mad. I have woke up with this (and similar unaccountable feelings) before and can only explain it as being the dreams i have just had the night before, have left me feeling the way i feel. Sometimes i remember the dreams so it is easy to explain, other times i cannot remember the dreams so am left wondering what the hell i must have been dreaming about, to make me feel this way today. The feeling usually goes by about mid afternoon.
I had a feeling of doom deep in my stomach yesterday but that just turned out to be the dodgy pakora from sunday night.

Load of people will jump onboard here and bombard you with all sorts of theories about astrology (don't forget about Venus shooting in front of the sun), life cycles and other such nonsense.

Your having a mega bad day....loads of little things may be conspiring to make you feel down....unless you have any major stuff to do today or coming up shortly then I wouldn't worry about it and just shrug it off...you're not mad (well not any more than anyone else) just forget about it and look forward to tomorrow.

I don't know what the weather's like where you are, but here, it's very oppressive. It feels like there's a thunderstorm on it's way. Maybe if it's like that where you are that could have something to do with the way you're feeling. I think Darth also has made a very good point.
Don't worry FD, you are certainly not going mad. You are experiencing one of the occasional low points that affect everyone from time to time. It may be caused by stress (even if you are unaware of conciously feeling stressed), by minor health problems, or just lack of proper sleep. As my colleagues advise, it should pass pretty quickly, but if your symptoms worsen, or persist, have a word with your GP and check if there is any underlying cause.
there's even a name for it. Its called "existential dread" Its a part of being human
Could it be something to do with your biorhythms?
My mum says that when she feels like this her "wire" (sp?) is upset. I think it's something to do with japanese religion type thing but have never actually found out what the right word is or what it means. i get it when i've had a really horrible dream, like the feeling you get when you know you've forgotten to do something really important but can't remember what it is. like i said tho if i've had a really horrible dream my "wire" is upset for the rest of the day...
My answer would have been exactly the same as darth vader's (see above) so it is probably far from unusual.
Anxious belly! I get the same thing! Usually before going out and sometimes in the mornings.. But the odd thing is that something usually does happen (psychic belly!) good & bad!.. this is probably just anxiety, I use rescue remedy, you can get it from health food shops, boots etc.. It really works for me!
