need help with making a dress

i wish to design n make a dress, i have the materials ready at my disposal, however on dresses, e.g bridals, how do they get it so close fitting to your body shape? I wish to have it showing off my figure but unsure of how dress makers do it? Any ideas? It would b a gr8 help!!

i made a dress for my textiles Gcse and i had to get soemone else put pins in it to make it to my size, thats what i would do.

if you make the dress to the pattern, then once its made, try it on and get someone handy to pin the darts and seams so they pinch in. Just stitch again and it should fit you like a glove.
