Astra/Zeneca’s share price has plummeted on fears that the vaccine will not be licensed for use in the USA.

Investors are doubting the results.
AZ originally claimed 70% effectiveness. That was bumped up to 90% on the results from two doses. But that turns out to have been done by error. A more clinical test of Brazilians only gave a 62% result.
There was criticism that the trial did not test on any older people, anyone over 55 was excluded.

62% is still impressive, but a third less than the other two. Have we been slightly misled?

It's entirely appropriate to scrutinise the results, although it's worth noting that *all* drug companies so far have only announced preliminary vaccine studies. It's more important to back a vaccine that works than a vaccine that's made here. Given the choice, I want to see the Astra/Zeneca one working, not least because it will be the cheapest, offered...

"//There's no, "er yes" about it.//
er there is - but you may not get it"

"yeah yeah - look I have said OK
you re right - you re right for chrissakes"

""you re right" is hard to understand ?"

My first quote from you showed you disagreed.

I'm getting bored with this now and no doubt others are too so I'll not continue debating this with you.

Here are the trial results as published by Oxford University.

They do not state the half dosing was an error. In fact they pass it off as a ‘dosing regimen’ as though it was always meant to be part of the trial.
They fail to mention that no older people were in the regimen that resulted in 90% effectiveness.

AZ will have to do a lot more testing to get FDA approval.
P/P , Love your posts they are far more intelligent than TTT's
hi Gull
give em hell
the oxford results are out - thx whomever posted the ref
they were to be submitted to the Lancet - need refereeing before posting on their site apparently

and yes - even Fauci noted that there were omissions even tho there are statements on this thread that disclosure was made

research such as this is NOT just for the regulator by the way
but is for - - - well people like us

corbo: My first quote from you showed you disagreed.
aaargh my brain hurts - I have said 'yes you are right' no debate OK
on Maradona this morning ok Marr then
and remember the Been hacks dont understand it so they cant explain it to us
BUT
there were two trials one wiv half a dose and one wivva control of meningitis ( which I thought was rather clever - so if Catherer is right that any antigen will raise antibodies then you can see if it is protective or not - no it isnt)
and they slapped them together
( two and seven makes ten thousand )

and then - no one from the oxford team is available to make a comment. The prof of epid them DID have was quite sensible
( it obviously works and the results are better than for flu)

talk about Brits dragging defeat out of the jaws of victory
