we could be going into tier 3 soon, but with our diverse population and many visitors its going to be ddifficult to keep a lid on

Yes but we cant have different tiers for each village/small town- the complaints then were its confusing or peopel from t3 come into tier 2 pubs, or how come weer tier 3 but the hoses 2 miles away are tier 1. ISnt it better to have your tier to high than risk others bringing it in and then hope the figures improve

On 2nd December when London was placed in Tier 2 and Manchester in Tier 3, the Manchester figure was lower than London’s.
Londons figure was rising and Manchesters was down 25%. Yet we got 3 and the capital got 2.

i don't know why we got tier 2, but there is talk of it going up to 3

tier 1, tier 2 or three doesn't seem to have filtered through to some, a those will ignore the guidelines

Obviously the economy doesn't matter anymore, long as the politicians cover their backs.

i think the economy matters a great deal, thats why billions has been pumped into businesses to keep them going. Also the furlough scheme, has worked well more billions though

You obviously didnt see the explanations of how they worked out the tiers, Sunk. Or maybe your just cherrypicking and conveniantly forgetting the ones that dont support your 'case'.
In case youve forgotten or were too busy to look it up there were several factors, 5 a recall. Infection rates was only one. An example of another factor was capacity in hospitals- maybe you should check on those as well for Manchester and London on those dates- but the answer was well publicized at the time.

Well its the same all across the Uk, Europe, the world, dave50. How come no goverments think we should put teh economy before lives. Germanys economy does okay and tehre going to be stricter than us over Christmas. Oh yes, and more peopel comply there which helps.
In the long run its better for the economy in my view to do what were doing, and its essential to stop are NHS collapsing and more key workers dying.

The week preceding December 2nd new cases were 25% down in Manchester, so capacity in hospitals was easing. Unlike London where week-on-week cases were 9% up and hospitals were getting busier.
