Even if it say 'oven cook only', all you have to do is turn it out of the container it's in and place onto a microwaveable plate and place in microwave, usually for about six minutes. I do this often !

Check what it says on the packet, before purchase.
Yes, as long as they are not in aluminium foil. It says on the instructions.
yes usually, check on the instruction label.

Or get a combi-oven.
I tend to live on more ready meals (either frozen or chilled) than I should, although I do manage some 'proper' cooking too. So I reckon that I'm reasonably knowledgeable on the matter.

The majority of ready meals are either intended to be cooked/heated in a microwave or they're able to be thus heated (even though the end result might not be quites as good as oven cooking). Only a few ready meals are labelled 'not suitable for microwave cooking'.

All of Iceland's products have the cooking instructions available on their website (as well as on the actual packs). Taking the three products you mention as examples, the 'value' lasagne can be microwaved

as can the cottage pie

as well as the bangers and mash

Use the search box at the top of any of those pages to look for other products from Iceland.

Thank you for BA postman. I can assure you this works fine ..
The Iceland lasagne is awesome. I, too, live on my own and £1 spent on their lasagne does me two meals, albeit it with a little salad.
Burely: I'll try it. Always a bit scared of food poisoning having endured it once.
The Cottage Pie is awful by the way!
Honestly six minutes is enough (mine is 700), it always comes out piping hot. I've done this for more years than I care to remember. If I buy a quick, convenient meal, I want it to be quick !
Morrison’s do value meals. Cottage Pie, Lasagne, Chicken Curry n Rice, Spaghetti Bolognnase.£1.05 at the moment. Most supermarkets do microwave dinners. Roast Beef. Chicken for around £1.70.
don't buy a combi microwave oven.
