So he appears with a black background and a furled union flag emulating Boris's No.10 conferences. Absolutely pathetic. You don't win by copying the opposition. You can only win by differentiating yourself.

I agree with Bobbi and fiveleaves. All this sniping does no good at all. Would he have done any better if he was in Boris’s place?
What is it he's trying to win?

I thought the image he was projecting was inappropriate. The black background and the furled union flag reminded me of Oswald Mosley. Of course, I'm not comparing him with Mosley but it was the image that was wrong.
//No, he should be working with the Government instead of against it//

I disagree. He should be holding the Government to account(not by sniping though) . And there is no shortage of material there given the mess Boris and his cohorts have made.

Starmer comes across to me as an ineffectual, self-promoting prawn. Certainly no help in a crisis.
Tes, he is a poor opposition which is why we have a poor Government. No one to hold them to account, just like the Blair years.

Yes! I got as far as modern dictator but you have nailed it....he needs a better image advisor.

I do get the thing about what the Opposition party is for but there is no need to appear so mean and grudging about it. He's coming over as a nitpicker who has no better ideas of his own and can only whinge. From a point of view of making the party electable, I'd like to see him mobilising the Labour party to be out there at grass roots publicly demonstrating support help and compassion....they may well be doing it as individuals but their image as a party is of a grudging antisemitic shambles with a small minded leader.
He would do well to sort out his nasal voice, something he shares with Ed Milliband. It grates.
