That some older folks in Stockton on tees were refusing to have the original vaccine because it was foreign!

It's important to call things out for what they are. If you're describing a 23 year old Chinese woman, describing her simply as a human is correct but not as accurate as you could be, or all that helpful.

Racism comes from fear, but if it's obviously racism then call it racism, not fear, from which many other things also come.

I'd have to speak to a few of these elderly folk to get a feel of whether they are racist or not and that's not going to happen.

Racism because they're happy to have a vaccine, but not a foreign vaccine. They'll wait for the "English" one.

Foreign vaccine 90% effective, English vaccine 60% effective, foreign vaccine on offer now, but no thank you.

Maybe they are actually fearful of the vaccine and this is just an excuse for not taking it ... in which case the excuse is racist.

This may all be a storm ina teacup. One doctor has tweeted that some patients are refusing the foreign vaccinne. How many is some. Two? Three? If its dozens for this doctor and the same for other doctors then its a problem. If its one doctor, perhaps one trying to blame it on racist brexiteers then maybe treat it with a pinch of salt

I dunno.....I mean I prefer canadian whisky to scottish whisky but that doesn't make me racist does it? I don't like cava or prosecco and would refuse it if offered but would accept champagne and I don't think that's racist either.

If they get the Oxford vaccine, it is just as likely to have been manufactured in Holland or Germany as in Britain. Are they going to ask where their batch has come from?

Haha. I think that you are "missing" it again. By design or deceit only you would know. The answer awarded meritorious status is in fact right. It misses the intended demographic target of course, sort of a friendly fire kill, but nevertheless bang on target. Age cannot aid the development of wisdom, if a mind is stunted in a belief system that discourages responsibility for ones actions, and uses fear to enforce obedience. The problem that the indigenous people of these shores has is that whenever this sort of prejudice is highlighted, it is ascribed to them using the epithets "local", "British", "citizen", or any other adjective that hides the true malign source . Even though the perpetrators probably have no allegiance, loyalty or affection for the system that is sheltering and protecting them at its own peril.
