High Esr

I have high ESR (40 mm/h). It was 70 a year ago, so has come down. I usually have high CRP (currently 13 mg/L). White cell count is 11.7 (was 14 a year ago).
I know that some people just have high inflammatory markers, but I don't have rheumatoid arthritis or cancer (that I know of). My ulcerative colitis is in remission. So, my question is (probably for Sqad who will have seen a lot of these!) should I be looking to get further tests/investigation? Would widespread joint trouble and a lot of pain cause results like this?

Firstly a ESR of 40 mms/ hour is no big deal and in itself is of no helpful significance.
I cannot remember your medical history exactly but I do remember that you have a hypermobliy syndrome possibly EDS.
Although you ulcerative colitis is clinically inactive, you immune state is still aware of it.
So.....no big deal, nothing to worry about and no if I were your physician I wouldn't recommend further investigation at this stage.
