Stanley Holloway (actor, 1890-1982) was on his death bed. His son, Julian, was by his side and was trying to comfort him in his last hours:
"Well, Dad, you've had a long, successful and happy life. Is there anything you haven't achieved that you really wish you had, anything you feel you've missed out on?"
"Well, son, there is one thing in particular I missed out on."
Julian was expecting his father to say that he'd missed out on a part with the Royal Shakespeare Company or something similarly deep and meaningful in the Thespian business.
"I really can't get over the fact that I didn't get the voice-over for the Mr Kipling cakes advert!"
