People who queued for two hours after driving 20 miles to get milk from a farm's vending machine have been fined for breaching lockdown rules.

“All of Wales remains under level four "stay at home" lockdown rules, with people only allowed to travel for essential reasons, which include buying food.

Welsh Government guidance on the rules say there are "no limits on how far" people can travel to shop for essential items,…”

I haven't fully digested the Welsh legislation but from the above passage it seems, once again, police are issuing fixed penalties when no law has been broken.

NJ,
They don’t want you to go shopping everyday to relieve your boredom.
But that is what is happening.
Rather than avoiding contact, people are shopping when they don’t need to, just for the social contact.

Old people, bereaved people, single people, lonely people, or just sociable people are taking shopping as an excuse to go out and meet people - and its all completely legal and acceptable.
Thank God I don't live in Italy!!
When I was at junior school I asked my mother why a man in the shop was wearing a dress and she said, 'Because he wants to.' That was good enough for me.

But still it goes on:

"Mrs Jones contacted the police and was told that their customers should be getting what they need from a supermarket or their nearest shop."

"One customer said she was threatened with a £60 fine if she would not leave. She had travelled from Trelawyndd, roughly a five to ten minute drive, to get full-fat milk for her son. Her village does not have its own shop and her disabled son is lactose intolerant. Despite explaining her circumstances to the police, she says she was still told to leave and did so to avoid the fine."

Everybody still happy?
NJ,re your little rant about the BBC showing the same thing on the News daily, Sky news have had a piece about a Hospital in Barnet on a loop for 2 days.

Disgraceful!
still unhappy, NJ. If there's genuine evidence of antisocial behaviour, the police should by all means warn people off. But this sounds suspiciously like using shoppers as a cash machine.
Can people who are lactose intolerant digest full fat milk?
My first thought too Woof.

I thought that too but decided to ignore it. She wanted the milk, was entitled to go to the farm under the law and was prevented from doing so.

If there's evidence of anti-social behaviour it should be dealt with accordingly (usually by means of the Public Order Act). Anti-social behaviour does not make one liable to a Fixed Penalty under the Covid restrictions.
Whenever the police get a cushy number they make a meal of it. Why sweat blood and tears trying to catch burglars, muggers, drug dealers &c when you can easily reel in a little old lady for going a few steps too far for a loaf of bread and a bottle of milk.
well but if that was the explanation she gave to the police then no wonder they said the welsh equivalent of "pull the other one love"
...'It's got cow bells on it'
lol mamya
