I’m not really vulnerable because I’m tough and I feel like it would be considered a sign of weakness to cry. So I hold all of my emotions back. I even hate myself if I shed a tear in private because I want to live up to the tough girl image I’ve shown for years.

One of the most important things I have learned is to not to be afraid of showing your emotions. We all have the same feelings - and it can create barriers if we pretend. Most people will respond to an emotion that they feel or have felt themselves.
