Replacement Inks.

I have a Canon Pixma MG5650 printer that I've had for quite a long time now. I've always paid full price for the Canon inks but they are getting too expensive. Can anyone recommend replacement inks at a cheaper price or how much does it cost to have refills? I'm not sure if that's the correct word but I mean take the empties to a computer shop to be filled. Thanks.
