i think my cat has a fur ball he keeps coughing but nothing is comming up.will he get rid of it by his self hes been coughing for about a week and a half and he is only coughingin the evening

Personally I'd be inclined to pop him to the vets though, just to make sure it is only a furball.

Somewhat akin to Boo's advice, I would only add that if you've ever seen a cat trying to up-chuck a fur ball you'd never mistake it for a "cough". It's quite a very apparent procedure and I won't describe it here except to say it involves prolonged 'heaving"...A visit to the vet is probably in order...
