In charlie chaplin / keystone cops style imagery (not used in the original, I dont think) there is always a similar peice of music being played. The fast piano music that everyone knows when it comes to chases.

Whats it called?

Although the name for the music associated with the era is Ragtime, the music associated with these types of movies is often called slapstick or madcap.  These terms are interchangeable with the description of the movie action as well...

For some reason, I always seem to identify the Dick Barton theme with these kind of slapstick chases.

It's probably not the piece of music you mean though!

I realise this was almost 16 years ago lol .. but I was clearly looking for the same thing and found this, so thought Id share incase someone else appears looking for the same thing.
