Neutered Dogs Still Try Sh*G

Why?
Today our boy (neutered) was around a *** on heat. He literally "tried" non stop! entire day! Ran himself ragged!
Why? I mean his testes have been removed so surely there's no hormone left to fuel the urge?

Let's face it, Eve, some dogs seem to spend an inordinate length of time humping fresh air. My daughter's dog has a squeaky toy it humps incessantly - it must be mistaking the squeaks for sounds of pleasure :-)

It's not just dogs! We had 2 neutered male cats and the elder one tried on a couple of occasions to have an urge satisfied with the younger one ! The look of confusion and horror on his face to me was unforgettable! Cats separated immeadiately! Being indoor cats ( Traffic bad) prob didnt help. Boundaries were established though and they were best of brothers for many years :-)

I know you weren't expecting it but in fairness to your dog, now you do know, I wouldn't have an in season bytch in the house, even shut away. To the dog the scent is lingering and pervasive.

As a matter of interest, research was done on fighter pilots who lost their gonads. Apparently the chief determinant on whether or not they would continue to have a normal sex life was whether or not they believed they could...I will try and find the paper.
