Let's say you have a "fair" quarter that has two sides, heads and tails.


You flip the coin four times and get the following results:


Flip 1: Heads


Flip 2: Tails


Flip 3: Heads


Flip 4: Heads


You flip heads 3 out of 4 times, which is 75%.


Is this experimental or theoretical probability in play? How do you know?

You allready know from are other answers that the theretical probability each time of getting head is 50%. Your 3 flip's is an experiment so its experimental but its far to small an experiment. You should toss it 100 time's and will get close to 50% (50 heads). Then 1000 and get even closer to 50%. Then do it 10000 time's and it will be exactly or very very close to 50%
