To have a family with several children would it be considered to never let the children leave the home? How long is too long? Do you have to live in the city for this to matter?

It all really depends on how many children, the ages of the children , whether an adult went out with them etc but children, like adults do need to get out of the house to get some fresh air etc, to go to school, to play in the park. Young children probably do need an adult to go with them not least to teach them how to play etc. No matter where children live they are safest with an adult or two being out with them...not least to show them how to clear up after a picnic...which people love in the nice weather

To not let the children leave the home ....PERIOD.
Until they become the age of let’s say -5 or 16 and can begin working. To be home schooled. Not leave the home unless needing medical attention.
It doesn't sound right to me. I don't think that where they live should make a difference. Do the parents not take them on outings, or even shopping for clothes and shoes? Do they play outside? Is this a specific family that you know of?
sounds like you are in the US, I think you do have similar laws about schooling etc so I'd say it's probably illegal unless the home "schooling" is moderated, even then, yes it sounds like a form of abuse.
If everything you say is true, then of course it's a form of abuse. I'm surprised you actually have to ask.
no matter where it is, it matters, i would say it certainly seems a form of abuse.
If they don't get out to play, have friends over then how will they learn to socialise.
Turpin parents were prosecuted for same + cruelty.

You obviously have internet access. If you are having problems can you contact your local police or social services and explain what you think is wrong
